Introducing the 2nd L'Arche Atlanta Home
We are excited that renovations are now complete on L'Arche Atlanta's second home on Clairemont Road! We have received a certificate of occupancy, and have applied for a permit with DBHDD for the house to be approved as a Community- Based Housing option. Although the pictures below were taken before we received furniture, thanks to many generous donors, the house is partially furnished and filled with household items in anticipation of new Core Members!
We are so grateful to the many, many donors that made this possible!

Awarded for Remodeling Excellence!
The contractors for the second L'Arche house, Summers & Sons, won the 2021 Chrysalis National Award for Remodeling Excellence! Together with H. Anne Blakely Sciarrone Architecture, LLC, they did an outstanding job with the property. We are grateful for their good work and glad they got the award they deserve!
The award notes say, "We converted a historic 1940's home into a home for adults with developmental disabilities and their caretakers. We created a safe, comfortable place for residents. The modern face-lift included whole-house sprinkler system, a 60-foot accessible ramp, front porch, screened back porch, and energy efficient components; including a tank-less water heater. Hallways and entryways were widened without compromising surrounding spaces, and rooms were creatively converted to add 3 more bedrooms and an extra bathroom. Accessibility was a key component in the design of our remodel. The harmony of practicality and comfort in this home make it truly one of a kind."
