​​But first, what is a L'Arche home?
​​L’Arche Atlanta has maintained one home in Decatur for almost ten years and is expanding its circle of belonging by opening a second home in the next few months. Each L’Arche Atlanta home includes people with and without disabilities who live, work, pray, and celebrate together. 

Those who share daily home life in a L'Arche home include:
  • up to 4 Core Members (persons with intellectual disabilities)
  • up to 4 Direct Support Professionals/House Assistants
  • a Home Life Leader who manages the day-to-day life of the home
  • a Care Coordinator (shared between both houses) who works alongside the Home Life Leaders to manage health care for Core Members
  • a Part-time Registered Nurse (shared between both houses) who provides oversight and coordination of health and wellness services for the Core Members

Opening 1: Part-time Agency Registered Nurse

As a Agent Registered Nurse at L’Arche Atlanta, you will play a vital role in the care and support of the community's eight adult residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, whom we refer to as Core Members.  We are seeking a part-time nurse (RN) to provide oversight and coordination of health and wellness services for the Core Members.  For more information email matthew@larcheatlanta.org. ​

This is a part-time (6-8 hours/week), hourly position to work at both of L'Arche's homes in Decatur (the homes are approximately three miles apart). Scheduling is flexible. Compensation: $50/hour; no benefits are included.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly in-person health assessment of each Core Member (check vitals, review ongoing treatment/care plans)
  • Available for consultation via phone about medical situations that arise
  • Train & observe house assistants on medication administration
  • As desired by Core Members, prove medication explanation, regarding purpose & potential side effects of medication
  • Maintain accurate records in the state's health records database
  • Attend quarterly Quality Assurance meetings (on Zoom)

Minimum Requirements
  • Verification of being a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Georgia
  • Maintain current TB tests at all times
  • Participate in training, seminars, and workshops as required by DBHDD, DCH, or L’Arche Atlanta
  • Available to begin employment with L'Arche on or before June 1, 2022
  • Willingness to remain in the role for at least two years
  • Able to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • 21+ years old, eligible to work in the United States
  • A valid driver’s license

​Opening #2: House Assistant / Direct Support Professional

L’Arche Atlanta's House Assistants build a relationship of mutual care and support with persons with intellectual disabilities (Core Members); foster a home life of unity, mutual respect, and participation by all members; and provide direct care supports and skill-building for Core Members.

In this full-time (40 hrs/wk), salaried position, you will live and work at the L’Arche home in Decatur. Assistants choose to live in the L'Arche house as their primary residence; this type of community living is central to our mission. 

Primary job responsibilities include:
  • Sharing life in a community of people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Minimum Requirements
​
No previous experience in this role is required, L'Arche will provide 3-6 weeks of paid training time. The following are required:
  • A desire to work and live in an intentional community, developing mutual relationships with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to implement health care plans and to respond appropriately in an emergency
  • Able to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • 18+ years old, eligible to work in the United States

A pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle report are all required prior to start date.

Entry-level take home pay is approximately $19,400 annually. Room and board, including a private bedroom, water, utilities, internet, meals, and common grocery items are also included. Other benefits include 20 days of Paid Time Off per year and nearly full coverage for health, vision, and dental insurance.
