What is the 9th Birthday Benefit & Auction?
Each year L'Arche Atlanta holds a birthday party to celebrate another year since founding the L'Arche house in Oakhurst in 2012. We celebrate all the people that make our beautiful community possible and we celebrate all things L'Arche -- inclusive community, the giftedness of our community members, and our vision for a world where everyone belongs. This year we have a lot to celebrate as renovations are underway to open a second L'Arche house later this year!
How much does it cost to attend?
It's free to join us online from the comfort of your home! We want as many people as possible to join us online! Your purchases and donations to support our community of people with and without intellectual disabilities are greatly appreciated.
How do I register?

You have such a diverse collection of auction items! How were you able to get them?
We are so grateful to the businesses that were able to donate items to our auction and did so! We are especially grateful this year to our donors who purchased gift cards to local businesses, giving a two-fold gift: supporting a local business and supporting L'Arche Atlanta. Please recognize their generosity by bidding generously on these donated items!
How does the "Buy It Now" option work?
If you know you want an item, you can click "buy it now" for the price listed. The auction will then end for that item and it is yours!
How do I get the items I win?
There are three delivery methods: email for e-gift cards or items you arrange with the donor (such as vacation rentals and events), postal mail for gift cards that can be easily mailed, or pick-up only for other items, such as the signed-memorabilia. Each item lists the delivery method in the description.
When will I get the items I win?
Please be patient with our small staff as we get the items to you after the auction. We're committed to getting everything emailed or in the postal mail within five days of the auction ending.
When is the auction?
Bidding will start on Monday, September 13 at 10:00am EDT. The silent auction ends on September 19 at 5:30pm EDT. You can bid on items at any time during this time period on the GiveSmart L'Arche auction page.
I do not live locally; can I still participate?
Yes! This is the joy of a virtual auction & storytelling event -- you can join us from anywhere you have an internet connection! Each auction item will have a delivery mechanism listed. If you are not local, you will want to look for items that can be delivered electronically or by postal mail. Items that are marked 'PICK UP ONLY' must be picked up in person.
Where will the live show be broadcast?
The live show will be broadcast on Sunday, September 19 at 5:00pm on Facebook and LArche9BB.GiveSmart.com. We will send out the direct links the day before!
What is the best set-up for participating in the live show?
We highly recommend watching the event on a device separate from your phone, so you can use your phone for bidding and donating. You'll want the live stream on a laptop, iPad, or smart TV -- anything that can access the internet -- and your smart phone for bidding. Conversely, if you are watching with someone, one phone could be used for viewing and the other for bidding.
I have been wanting to introduce some friends to L'Arche -- would this be an appropriate place to start?
YES! This will be a great place to introduce friends, family, and colleagues to L'Arche Atlanta. Please invite widely! You can ask friends and family to register for the event on the GiveSmart L'Arche auction page.
I'm not available on September 19, can I still participate?
Yes! You can still bid on items all week, starting September 13, and you can make a donation to help us reach our $50,000 match. You can even give via check or PayPal, just make sure we receive it by September 19 so your gift can go towards our match goal.
